Post Date: 2021-11-05

As the Application Process for Primary School in the UK is about to begin, we are proposing our 7 Step Guide to aid you, parents, with the application process.

7 steps to apply to a state primary or secondary school

1. Know your local council
Primary school applications in the UK need to be made through the local council.

2. Check your Child’s day of birth
Surely you know when your child’s birthday is. However, you should know whether your child is born between the correct dates of the school’s natural year of entry, hence this step.

3. Search for school options
The child’s main home address will be the base starting point to begin your search. You should also understand different admission criteria, inspection results, performance data and mode of transport from/to school.

4. Prepare the documents
The online applications will usually require documents such as proof of address and proof of the pupils’ date of birth.

5. Meet the primary school application deadline
Although the open date of application can vary depending on the council, all the applications to primary schools in the UK must be submitted by 15 January.

6. Fulfil the school options
Choose different schools for greater flexibility.

7. Sit back, relax and look forward to the National Day Offer
The primary school's national offer day is on 16 April and you will know the school’s final decision.
